Brittany Hans

Hi! I’m Brittany, and I grew up in Frankfort, Illinois. My passion for photography began when I was quite young with my trusty old Kodak point-and-shoot camera. It was purple. Photos included side bangs and jumping in front of a midwest sunset. I know those details are probably very important to you. ;)

For four years, I worked as a social media manager at a major financial institution, while photography quietly stayed in the background of my mind. I’d often wonder: Would I ever pursue photography full-time? Could it become my main thing? Well, life has a funny way of answering questions for you. After recently being laid off, I found myself with the opportunity to finally give photography the space it deserved. And the truth is, it never stopped being my favorite. Now, I get to let it bring me joy all the time, and hopefully, bring you a little joy too.

Over the years, as my friends and family moved through all kinds of big life moments, I found myself lucky enough to photograph them along the way. Those experiences taught me that your photos should feel like you. Not overly posed, not overly perfect, just the people, places, and little things that make your life yours. I love getting to know each client and finding ways to personalize a session around what makes your family unique.

Are you obsessed with books, plants, and cats? Same. Let’s bring them into your at-home session. Is your one-year-old a total spitfire with energy to spare? Perfect. I’ll be out in the grass in my Miss Rachel overalls, camera in hand, photographing them as they point at airplanes, chase bugs, and eat popsicles. Your life doesn’t have to fit a photography style. Your photos should fit your life.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m usually doing the things that make up my own little every day life: reading in my home library, making oat milk lattes, taking hot girl walks with an audiobook, traveling with my husband, hanging out in my tomato garden, and making beaded jewelry. I love the little details that make a life feel like your own. And I think that’s exactly what makes a photo worth keeping.
